A4130 Steventon Lights Integrated Transport scheme - Road closures

A4130 Steventon Lights Integrated Transport scheme – update letter Following on from our residents' drop-in information event in July, we are writing to provide you with a further update in relation to the construction of the A4130 Steventon Lights Integrated Transport scheme. Work is currently underway to diverting utilities, such as gas, electricity and telecoms to facilitate the scheme. There may be some minor traffic disruption and temporary traffic lights in the coming weeks. The work will be complete by mid-December 2024. Work will commence to set up the temporary site compound off Trenchard Avenue in November, for approximately six weeks. There may be some minor traffic disruption and temporary traffic lights. To account for the festive period, the main construction for the scheme will then start in early January 2025. It is currently anticipated that the scheme will take 12 months to complete. To enable the scheme to be built safely, it will be necessary to undertake works during a number of different phases. Phase 1 – A4130 Milton Interchange to west of Trenchard Avenue and Steventon High Street junction Traffic management arrangements during this phase will include narrow lane working sections along the A4130 from Milton Interchange, two-way traffic signals along the A4130 (operating Monday to Friday 9:30am – 3:30pm) and three-way traffic signals at the junction between Steventon High Street and A4130 (operating Monday to Friday 7:30am – 6pm).

There will also be a temporary road closure of a section of Trenchard Avenue and a diversion route in place via Milton Hill. Please refer to the enclosed traffic management map for further details. These dates and plans are subject to weather conditions and other factors that are beyond the council's control. The traffic management measures will be continually monitored throughout each day of construction, so that we can respond quickly to traffic conditions as they happen. We advise residents and commuters to plan their travel routes accordingly and to anticipate potential delays. In the event of an incident on the A34, traffic management will be reduced to a minimum where possible (subject to safety) to ease congestion.
