Notification of Road Closures: A34 West Berkshire/Oxfordshire

A34 West Berkshire/Oxfordshire – Road Marking and Road Stud Replacement – UPDATE

In 2019 we started work to refresh the road markings and install new LED road studs at the West Ilsley junction, Chilton junction, Milton Interchange, Hinksey Hill junction and the Botley Interchange, to improve safety to road users.

Unfortunately, some areas of work remain outstanding. To complete this work we will need to close the A34 north and southbound carriageways overnight (between 9pm and 6am) on the following dates:

• Monday 3 February for 3 nights – closure of the A34 northbound carriageway from the M4 (Chieveley) to the A4130 Milton Interchange

• Thursday 6 February for 3 nights – closure of the A34 northbound carriageway from the A4130 Milton Interchange to the A420 Botley Interchange (this closure also allows for a joint to be replaced within the Botley Flyover)

• Tuesday 11 February for 3 nights – closure of the A34 southbound carriageway from the A4130 Milton Interchange to the M4 (Chieveley)

• Monday 24 February for 2 nights – closure of the A34 southbound carriageway from the A420 Botley Interchange to the A4130 Milton Interchange

Diversions

For closures between the Milton Interchange and Botley Interchange standard traffic will be diverted via the A417, Wantage, A338 and A420 (southbound diversion the same in reverse).

For closures between the M4/Chieveley and the Milton Interchange standard traffic will be diverted via A4, A338, Wantage and A417 (southbound diversion the same in reverse).

Access will be maintained for emergency service vehicles on blue light calls only.

Please be aware that this closure is subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances – please check the yellow signs placed in advance alongside the road for confirmation of the closures dates/timings.
